KENNEWICK, WASH. – November 2, 2026 – The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC) has scheduled a public hearing on Cascade Natural Gas Corporation’s multi-year rate plan.
The company filed its multi-year rate plan with the WUTC on May 29, 2026. If approved as filed, Cascade’s overall revenue increase would be approximately $25.1 million, or 4.87% effective May 1, 2027 and approximately $18.1 million, or 3.35% effective May 1, 2028.
Cascade’s request reflects ongoing investments in infrastructure to maintain safe and reliable service, higher operating costs and increased depreciation related to system improvements. The investments allow the company to continue to meet its obligation to serve customers safely and reliably.
If approved by the WUTC, an average residential customer using 50 therms a month can expect to see an increase of $5.80 or 6.61% effective May 1, 2027, and an increase of $3.51 or 3.75% effective May 1, 2028. This request also includes a proposal to increase the monthly basic service charge from $6.00 to $12.00 in year one and $15.00 in year two. The increase in the basic service charge is important to ensure the company recovers the fixed costs it incurs for providing customers with service.

Multi-Year Rate Plan Information
A multi-year rate plan is reviewed through a legal proceeding in which the WUTC will examine a utility’s operations and costs to ensure regulated companies provide safe and reliable service to customers at reasonable rates, while allowing the utility the opportunity to earn a fair return on its investments. The WUTC has the authority to set final rates based on the results of its investigation, which may be different from Cascade’s requested increase.
Public Comment Hearing
The WUTC will conduct a public hearing to take comments on the company’s request. The hearing will be held on January 12, 2027, at 6:00 pm. The docket number for Cascade’s rate case is UG-260127
